What 'fear machine'?

Looking at the BBC news (eg) website there are 0 covid articles on the main page for the UK.

ETA: And 0 covid articles on the Sky News main page.

It’s the “calmness machine” that’s scuppering things. Totally cancelling out the “fear machine”
It’s a bit like robot wars.

I’m not sure if I should obsess about things that I shouldn’t, or totally ignore the things that I should.

It's in the previous thread. One PHer encountered a load of pensioners masked up in the supermarket who questioned why he wasn't complying. Dismissed by some other contributors as nonsense.
More than one educational establishment in the USA has reintroduced a mask mandate. Ignored by some other contributors.
Unsubstantiated rumours of a rethink of restrictions in the USA as we draw closer to winter (and not just via that Youtuber fella). Lampooned by other contributors.
And that's just within the last couple of weeks.

You can be head-in-the-sand if you want (and I did identify that group in my previous post) but the fact is restrictions and mandates are being talked about as a possibility more and more. But perhaps not on the first page of the BBC UK website.
