I'd say with the full years warranty, massive spec, its cheaper than buying from thorney etc.

Great spec, apart from being white & leather, which is the worst for resale, which probably explains the price.

Agreed but offset with all the carbon elements? however compared to this

it looks like a bargain.

Leather is a positive for some of us. I wish mine was leather

I loved my white 12C and had no issues selling it when the time came. They look great in white, I have found as many love white as not. I'm not a fan of leather in any car but at the right price its not a deal breaker. Buying at B&C got to be a mega positive. That car just needs a set of OEM superlight 10 spoke wheels, in silver, and it would look awesome.

Every advertised Mclaren model whites and blacks are always the cheapest (except above average mileage ones) and take longer to sell which was well discussed in the sports series thread, your one example does not change that, if you dont believe it take a look at the classifieds.

I don't know about the sports series cars as this post was about a P11 car. But I had a quick look and there is not a single white 12C for sale on PH and only one on AT, and its not the cheapest, so can only assume owners want to keep them as they like them?

There have been 15 UK x 12C's sold on CC, 2 white ones went for £73,500 + fees & £61,500 + fees. There is no obvious correlation to colour, a black one went for even more at £76k while red, blue and silver have all sold for less, as low as £46k for a silver. In fact going off CC it would appear silver is the least favourable in terms of price.

Each to their own though, there is no wrong choice, colour is entirely subjective.

I've was very closely watching the market for the 650S for the last 12 months until I bought mine. I doubt a day went by for 12 months without me opening up autotrader at some point.

For almost all that time (although curiously not right now) white ones made up the majority of the cheapest cars available. This was mostly because white cars would hang around for ages; they'd be there for months and months and months before eventually disappearing. In comparison if a volcano red car came up it would be gone in a few weeks. Black cars appeared to come a close 2nd for sticking around on forecourts.

Obviously there are exceptions that we can all point to, since colour is hardly the only factor when choosing a car. I'm sure there are white cars that hit somebodys sweet spot and sold quickly, and volcano red cars that refused to sell because they had a dodgy history. But the overall trend was definitely there.

None of this is to say there is anything wrong with white, if somebody wants a white 650 like the one posted then great it's not fundamentally worse than any other colour since this is all subjective, it's just something I noticed.

I can't argue with the statistics, they are what they are. Personally I wanted white and that's what I was looking for my 720, so it actually worked in my favour. I prefer being in a car that I wanted for a couple of years rather than worrying about ability to resell. I also think all the CF suits white very nicely. So if you like white then the lower price and slow movement will work well for you!

I’ve noticed over the last few weeks, prices on certain SOR cars sold at Thorney, have dropped £1k - £2k and some have been hanging around for months. Conversely, a blue car sold for the asking price 1-2 days after being advertised.

Didn’t know B&C sold cars so useful info.

Really? I'd always heard of them as the oldest Lotus dealer in the UK. They have expanded a bit since I lived in Guildford in the 80s.

That's different - what they did / do for Lotus isn't necessarily what they do for McLaren.

I have seen one car for sale at Guildford - some special / racing version of a 650 I think for silly money a few years back. I guess they are selling more "normal" cars now, but I assume it's still only the odd car and that they don't have the same kind of setup as Ascot?

Never been interested in a Lotus so they were never on my radar and only appeared when I heard they were a McLaren service centre, not a dealer.

I apologise for not knowing all the McLaren dealers off the top of my head smile

A few years down the line good examples of 12c/650s/720s are set to really firm up in price IMO. Crazy VFM.
