What are your unpopular opinions? (Vol. 2)
Discussion
The Stones wrote finely crafted songs compared to The Beatles nursery rhymes...? You've not listened to 'Their Satanic Majesties' recently then?!! I love both bands, for me they both wrote great songs during a very creative period but The Stones copied the Beatles no end with sometimes inferior results, luckily though they regained their mojo with 'Jumpin' Jack Flash' and Beggar's Banquet'. It's often written that both bands were rivals, you either love one or the other but they got along fine, dropping in on each other's sessions and in their homes. There was quite a bond between them for a while and Jagger has said in the past that he was quite awe of Lennon and McCartney's writing and creativity...

To me cult & underground electronic music (early 80's and onward) is the 'real' music. Not the band and singer/songwriter stuff the rest of humanity seems to view as the real thing.
To say one genre is the 'real' music from the dozens available highlights a lack of vision and understanding. If you love music Nerdo, an appreciation of all types would be a rational thought.Last Visit said:
On hot days fat/obese/overweight people should not be allowed to use public transport. Ever.
And such people should not be allowed to fly on regional airlines (Flybe for example) unless they pay for two f**king seats. I'm normal size, and object to being squished by the person next to me who doesn't fit in their f**king seat.Magnum 475 said:

When I was a school governor, it was a standing joke , the list of things should be taught at school; financial management, architecture appreciation, norse mythology, African history, everyone had their own particular hobby horse. But ask them what should be dropped to fit their new subject in, and you never got a straight answer. Apart from some people saying RE, which can't be dropped because it's a legal requirement ging84 said:
Music is just background noise.
Some is better than others and some suits particular tastes.
wow now that is an unpopular opinion. The whole point is that it triggers an emotional reaction. It is a trigger for memories, feelings.. we are naturally predisposed to some aspects of music such as rhythm and melody. Lyrics can evoke all sorts of responses too as sometimes they can resound with us and our experiences, or be very thought-provoking or teach us something new, or about humanity... Some is better than others and some suits particular tastes.
I can only assume you feel all music is kind of background lift music because you really have never tuned in to it. I can't imagine not having something like that in my life. I find that very odd that someone feels that way, but it's the way you feel so there you go.

I don't want an understanding of it, to me its a very simple thing, either my ears like the music they dont.I couldn't care less about how its composed, what the inspired the musician to pick which notes go where, how its mixed.
I don't ever want to cross into beard territory in music, as music beards like most beards are tedious especially the pretentious Pink floyd fans, mutually masturbating in a drugged haze about dave gilmour's guitar leads spouting that they came from the era when music was listened to in the dark, with headphones, drunk and/or high, "It was experienced man."
