Brought the car in due to recurring problems with the steering, after having the steering worked on twice unsatisfactorily by a Goodyear repair shop. After a short wait we were invited into the office of Carlos Rangel, who listened carefully as we explained the entire history of the steering problems, and the previous unsuccessful and redundant repair attempts by others. When we were done Carlos arranged a ride home for us. The next day we received an email detailing the results of their inspection, diagnosis, and cost estimate, complete with a video of the car up on the lift with technician Ignacio B. pointing out the sources of fluid leakage and other damaged parts. Carlos called to discuss the options of doing the repairs with cheaper but more readily available aftermarket parts versus having a longer wait for original manufacturer’s parts, which might take two months or more to arrive. After considering overnight whether to get the 19-year-old car repaired at all, we called back the next day and told them to go ahead and order the better quality parts. Not expecting a status update for at least a month, we were delighted to hear from Carlos after only three weeks with the news that the parts had arrived and Ignacio would have it fixed and test-driven in a day or two. The service was excellent all around, and now we hope to keep driving it another two or three years. I will return to McGrath Acura for any future work.
