DON’T KNOW HOW TO CLASSIFY THIS EXPERIENCE. Is it because I’m female? because I’m a black female? price gouging? or simply unethical or all the above?!! I called Pat S. Last week, (he has been my Rep for the past 2 years) I noticed the tread on one of my tires was low. He asked me to stop by so that he could take a look and order the tire. I stopped by on Monday April 5th, Pat S. Was out for the day, Jacob (service rep) came out to “help” me. Jacob looked at my tires, I asked him if my car was safe to drive after he assessed the driver front inner tire was very low, he recommended that I leave my car there, he would order the tires. Jacob went to his office, came back out with his quote sheet. He told me “ the tires you have on your Levante are on back order and will not be available for a month!! there is another tire available, but, it doesn’t last as long” I asked “how much is this tire” his response “ it’s about the same, may be a little less”. Jacob had the quote already written out...4 tires around $2080.00 and an alignment would be $1,120.00. I had paid around the same amount for the tires( which now I know I was price gouged in the past) I wasn’t shocked. I told Jacob the alignment is three times more than I paid last year?? Why?? He told me that Maserati is now requiring a calibration when you get an alignment. I asked “ what are you calibrating?? He explained it would be the cameras, electrical blah blah blah... I was confused 🤷🏼♀️ I told him I had gotten and alignment last year, when did it change? He said around August of 2020. He continued to say...This is a new requirement, that we must do when you get an alignment. I left there feeling I had no choice.
Later in the evening I called another Helfman Maserati, (where I purchased my car) and spoke with the service manager, I asked him how much is an alignment for a 2019 Maserati Levante? He asked the qualifying questions ( has there been damage to anything etc...). I explained that I needed to get 4 new tires and I would also need an alignment. Micah quotes me $300.00 🤔.
I called Jacob, told him, I called another Helfman and I was quoted what I paid last year!! Jacob then started back pedaling and said “ it’s recommended”. I said “you did not explain to me that it was was recommend or optional” you said to me “ Maserati made the change mid last year and the cost is $1120.00”. I told him, Just get my tires, don’t do an alignment. “ if customer service is a priority, I’m sure they record their calls, I invite them to play the recording” As I rehearsed the conversation I remembered a past encounter with Jacob, again Pat was out and Jacob came out to “help” me. I was in a loaner car. I was sitting in my car as Jacob walked around the car and mysteriously there was a fresh scratch🤷🏼♀️ (Let me say, I’m not accusing Jacob of scratching the car but I went back to the car wash and looked at their cameras of the car going through the war wash, close up and there was not a scratch. I left the car wash and went straight to the dealership to drop it off) however, I paid for the damages but it never set well with me. I digressed, sorry. I arranged to have a tow truck pick it up and deliver to A different Helfman. I called Jacob to let him know, I didn’t feel good about our encounter yesterday and don’t want them to do any work on my car, I’m arranging to have it picked up. I called back to speak with Caleb (service manager) I told Caleb I was coming to pick up my car please get my key I don’t want anyone else to have it; he agreed. I arrived, spoke with Caleb, he gave me the breakdown (of no work done) and had someone bring my car. CALEB NEVER asked me ONE question!
My car arrives at the other Helfman. I was quoted on the SAME TIRES @ $285.00 each they could have them in 3 days!? (No back order for 1 month)
I also got an alignment for $300.00. I picked my car up yesterday and paid $1,761.51 total. At HELFMAN MASERATI HOUSTON, I would have paid no less than $3,100.00? Your Response PLEASE!?
